Alegrías Hostel
Bogotá, Colombia
Alegriaa Hostel, sitting area
After a successful trip from the airport, and bartering for the correct taxi price (25,000 COP - score!) we began our stay in Bogota at Alegrías Hostel.
Our friendly host, Rueben, welcomed us to our first home away from home. He graciously helped us while we tried our hand at our first foray into speaking Spanish with the locals. We failed, but got our rooms anyway. He gave us a map and told us very specifically which streets to head down, and which direction to go (uno, dos, tres, norte, oeste). He then gave us some delicious “pan” and “jugo de papaya” before showing us to our rooms.
Alegrias Hostel, dorm balcony
It was a very beautiful hostel with a ten bed dorm, which we shared with many other travelers from around the world (Israel, Belgium, Britain, United States), and even shared it with a few new feline friends.

Mocha, muy elegante.
At this hostel we had two other furry friends, Mocha and Paco. As you'll see further into our adventure, dogs are also big fans of us…
