Coquitlam Kiosk
While working for a engineering consultant agency that was doing a lot of work with the city of Coquitlam in British Columbia. I got the opportunity to design a UI for these digital kiosks which are to be placed near city “hot spots” such as train stations, large parks, recreational areas etc.
The function for these kiosks were to create community engagement and help assist the tourism business within the city of Coquitlam. These kiosks would be motion sensor activated so that it would display a “slideshow” of pictures from around the area and when a user approaches the kiosk it would slide up the main menu in order to be used.
While designing this kiosk UI I was in constant communication with representatives from the city of Coquitlam ensuring that the design stayed within their branding guidelines. The UI had to be designed to be usable by anyone, which meant making sure it was accessibility friendly by placing all interaction elements bellow a certain height which is why all interaction is in the bottom third of the interface.
The Survey, Event and News pages were all designed to provide an easy reading experience for all while being easily navigable and in the case of the events page having an option to go straight to a map view of where the event is or is going to take place.
